If you were on the verge of becoming the world’s first hip-hop billionaire, you’d feel like spoiling yourself a little. Andre Romelie Young A.K.A Dr. Dre has gone and done just that.
While reports swirl of Apple acquiring Beats Electronics for a huge $3.2 billion, further reports of the hip-hop king indicate he’s closing in on purchasing Tom Brady’s French Chateau mansion in LA. Sources can confirm Dre has put in an offer close to the $50 million mark for the 18,700 square-foot mansion. That’s a long call from Compton.
The Chateau boasts six bedrooms, a world-class gym, library, infinity pool, a waterfall and last but not least, a moat. Yes, a moat.
According to Forbes, Dre’s new wealth from the beats sale will put him in the top spot with an estimated worth of just over US $1 billion, placing ‘Puff Daddy’ Combs second and Jay Z in third place respectively.
Upon sealing the deal with Apple, Dre celebrated with adding that he’s “The first billionaire in hip-hop, right here from the motherf–king West Coast.”
We can’t wait to see what Dre does with this place, we’ll keep you updated. One thing’s for sure; he’s going to have a very good sound system and some very fine parties.
