Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is basically the 8th Harry Potter book

With less than two months to go before Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens in London, the first images of the cast in costume are being teased on social media.

Here is a brief synopsis of the story.

“The eighth story. Nineteen years later. It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.” -Pottermore

On Tuesday, the official Harry Potter Play Twitter account shared pictures of an older Harry, an older Ginny, and the Cursed Child himself, Albus Potter.

Here they are in a slightly gloomy family portrait.

Here’s Harry on his own, looking pretty miserable about something.

Ginny looks a bit more cheerful.

And here’s little Albus. Judging by the play’s title, he’s going to be in for a rough ride.

“There’s much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but we’d be into spoiler territory so quickly I’ll just say we couldn’t have cast better,” J.K. Rowling told Pottermore.

Pottermore will be releasing more images of the cast throughout the week.
