A mysterious house on a grassy pasture isolated from the rest of the world sits on a beautiful island known as Ellidaey. Ellidaey island is located near the southern tip of Iceland in the town of islands, Vestmannaeyjar. If you ever happen to be visiting the southern tip of Iceland, this has to be one of the top places to visit in Vestmannaeyjar.
Who lives in the house on Ellidaey Island?
Well, to answer that question, no one does. The island was actually a home to a few families hundreds of years ago. However due to the extreme isolation of the island, they packed up and moved to the mainland. I wouldn't blame them.
The house on Ellidaey Island, was built in 1953 by the Ellidaey Hunting Association, and is actually known as a hunting lodge. It is a very peculiar hunting lodge as it has no indoor plumbing, electricity, or *gasp* no internet. What it does have is a sauna, powered by rainwater collected from the lodge. Awesome.
Rumor has it, the hunting lodge on Ellidaey Island was donated to a famous singer from Iceland, Bjork. Although this particular rumor is untrue, Bjork does have a home on another island called Eillidaey off the western coast of Iceland.
