Sweden’s HMS Visby is a new age warship built and primarily intended for combat. As well as being armed and highly stealth in the open waters, it’s designed to withstand damage and move faster than warships of equal size, making it an asset to their fleet.
The 242 ft (74 meter) hull is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic in order to make the vessel difficult to detect by other forces. The Visby can get within 30km of its target before being detected. 30km may sound like a lot, but in the open ocean (and at a top speed of 40+ knots) she’s able to reach striking distance undetected. Having the Visby at the front of Sweden’s war fleet, scouting and aiding resonance is not just a nice to have, it should be mandatory for all.
