TiD No.1 Watch Review

The Swedes usually get most things right; from good beer and beautiful people to a world-class economy and high quality industrial design – it’s no lie Sweden is a well respected country for quality. Adding to the above list is a nice little brand tucked away in Stolkholm with a new take on minimal, sophisticated watch design.

The TiD Watches brand was founded in 2012 by Ola. E Bernestål, Petrus Palmér and design studio Form Us With Love’s Jonas Pettersson and John Löfgren. If you had a hard time pronouncing these names, rest assured that the TiD range is anything but as complex. Simplistic, minimalism with strong bold design is one way to sum up TiD watches. If you’re after bling, bells and whistles you won’t find that here.

TiD watches strike a level of quality that really shines through their workmanship and materials. For this review, the TiD No.1 is made of stainless steel, milled and then given a black ion coating for durabilty, a finish that gives it just the right amount of matte versus gloss on the wrist, while the only noticable branding is punched into the side.

The adjustable vegetable tanned italian leather strap sits well on the wrist and is comfortable for long wears. Weight comes in around 63 grams and feels sturdy on the arm thanks to the black coated steel case construction. This is a highly adjustable watch mind you, the strap can be replaced with nearly any piece of leather or band that can be threaded through the watch face.

The crown is uniquely situated on the left hand of the watchface which is untraditional yet welcome. It just works for this particular watchface and the TiD collaboration with Form Us With Love have definitely discussed this design feature thoughtfully.

Seconds, minutes and hour hands have a nice snap to their movements and the white hands pop off the rich midnight black backing. This is a very versatile watch that will go with casual or formal attire.
